Growing in Grace

The Bible calls on us to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 3:18). In effect, it calls on us to take charge in the process of our growth. In my reading, the Bible seems to assume that we have some measure of influence on how we can grow. And I have seen this principle repeated in various passages of Scripture.

However, when I speak about this reality to Christians, some of them quickly respond that spiritual growth is something that is not in their sphere of influence; it is God’s doing all the way. They immediately warn me to be careful not to take on God’s role of influence but rather to know my limits. They even challenge the spirit of this principle and instead advocate for prayers aimed at asking God to make them grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ. When I indicate that God ever called on the Children to Israel to seek and find Him, they turn this passage of Scripture into yet another prayer request for God to make them seek Him so that they can find Him.

At which point I normally give up. I normally announce that I will resort to prayer myself, for more wisdom.

I trust that you are not under such deception where Christians embrace helplessness. I trust that you understand that there is place for taking responsibility for your own spiritual growth. The Bible in 2 Peter 3:18 gives us grounds to accept responsibility for taking charge of some aspects of our growth in grace and in the knowledge of Christ.

Are you ready to take charge of your growth in grace and in the knowledge of Christ?

Receiving the Love of God cover

Well, for a limited time only, from 16th to 20th March 2017, I will provide a complimentary copy of my ebook, Receiving the Love of God, to anyone who is able to able to download it through Amazon Kindle Store. I am doing this to mark the launch of the book and bless the body of Christ.

Here are some the topics I cover in the book:

  • Love-based Christian living (the Love Path to Obedience).
  • Understanding God from how He created and designed you. You are created in God’s image. If God had a mirror, and wanted to look at Himself, He would see you. What is the significance of being created in God’s image? What does mankind reveal to us about God?
  • Discovering the comprehensive perspective on man’s creation. You will understand God from how He designed mankind and created the world. We go to before creation to take a peek at who God is outside time and space, and how we got here.
  • Exploring the nature of God’s love. Why and how He loves us. How our very creation is meant to show us God’s goodness.
  • God’s love and suffering in the world. If God is so loving, how come there is so much pain and suffering in the world?
  • Exploring the lives of Biblical heroes and how they experienced the love of God in their lives and went on to have compelling testimonies.
  • Examining Jesus’ mission on earth and how his life is God’s demonstration of His love to mankind. We look at how Jesus exemplifies God’s love.
  • How the modern church has missed its true calling to spread the love of God to all mankind. Instead of focusing on this important calling, the church has focused on periphery issues.
  • Satan’s role in opposing God’s love for humanity
  • The role of the Holy Spirit in bring home the love of God to our hearts.
  • And much much more.

The love of God for humankind is often taken for granted among Christians. It is assumed and not clearly understood. Yet it is the basis of the Good News that Jesus came to proclaim. And it continues to be the foundation for anyone to experience a victorious Christian life.

It is essential for Christians to re-engage God’s love with gusto so that they can establish a solid foundation for their faith and lead a victorious life in this age.

If you are ready to take charge of your growth in grace, I encourage you to invest time and deepen your appreciation of the grace of God from a different perspective. Take charge and facilitate your spiritual growth. Download your complimentary copy Receiving the Love of God here.
